Hello all! Wanted to give you the quick update on things.
1) Episode 12 (the series/season finale) is coming along nicely but slowly (as it has LOTS of animation and key moments). Of course we wish we could make it faster, but really want to make sure we get it right! In other words - we’re working on it, but for now it’s:

2) As soon as I am finished on Episode 12, I will immediately begin work on the DVD with all 12 episodes together (feature film version with no breaks in it). We are organizing a screening in NYC in late September of which you are all invited of course when we have more details.
3) The Behind the Scenes link on the right has the added links for the videos located on escapistmagazine.com should you like to see the whacky crew behind the movie ![]()
4) Finally - The Webby awards were super awesome (we won Best use of Animation - click the video to watch excerpts). Thx to all for voting and giving a damn. As people often ask how they can help more - all we say is blog about us and tell as many people as you can - it makes a big difference. We really do love you guys for making us feel special and can’t thank you enough.

Back to work for me!!
-Jes

You’re my inspiration (not gay).

And with the amount of inspiration I get, the rediculously large struggle I know I am going to have is going to be worth it.

The way you left it at the end of episode 11 was horrible! I started watching episode one after seeing a link to it at the end of one of “Escapist Magazine”’s Zero Punctuation features thinking “Ah well, what do i have to lose.” but this show/movie/series is actually the most amazing thing I’ve seen in a long long time and it hooked me! XD
It is fairly painful that I saw the first eleven episodes immediatly after one another and now I have to wait for episode 12 though! D: So much tensionnnnn.

We are working our hardest to make it happen in the next month or so. Please spread the word!
And of course - thx so much for the kind words

I have been viewing ZP Reviews for quite a while on The Escapist, and from time to time I would see the occasional Drawn By Pain ad, but would never find out what it was.
I finally went to preview the series, stubled across this addy (it said “Higher Quality”, I couldn’t resist), and started watching. I am very glad I did, as Drawn By Pain has some very inspirational moments.
Over the past couple of days, I have come to see that emotional pain and distress can hurt much more than physical pain.
This movie/series is very compelling and keeps you hooked from beginning to end (if it were done, … hehe). It also proves that a film-maker doesn’t necessarily have to have a ton of money/support to make a successful and totally awesome movie/series.
I expect to see more awesome content from all of you in the near future. Keep up the good work!

Thank you Corwin. I tried my best to do what I could with what I had. It’s awesome to hear that you enjoy it so far
And ditto on the emotional vs physical. Good news is - the emotional part can be put back together.

Ah dude hurry up with the ep. please I understand that it takes time but try to understand that I’m going to die of hyper-tension the way you left ep. 11 hanging lolage. Your stuff actually got me back into drawing again, although I stick to tribal because my humanoids and such suck, also can you pass this question on to Erica: How do you keep your characters in proportion? I always syuble on that. Keep up the gold-mine mate

G,
I’ll answer first by saying - we are working on the episode as I type this - wait that’s impossible - AFTER I finish typing this. Should be about a month or so from now till it’s ready - but in the meantime there will be a few more behind the scenes if you are interested.
I’m sure I speak for Erica as well when I say thx so much for the kind words - it’s been a long haul indeed and they keep us going

Uncle! Namaste! Basta!
I confess, I’m one of those “late joiners” who squizzed all 11 episodes in rapid succession — tra-la-la…gorgeous stuff, you JESKIDS…just stellar, nay, world-beating, even.
I imagine Erica’s scribbling wizardry totally opens up the territory — like the “Jaws of Life” — of political satire, and I’d like to see more of that going on over here in our post-Communist emerging bastion of pseudo-democracy called the Czech “Republic” (gawd — everyone’s a critic, eh?).
The scribble-pics are likely the sole remaining means available to us, we, the remnants of a population ruled by a cabal of former Commies who aren’t responsible in the least to us, their constituents…golly gee, I’m rambling again. Egad!
In any event, the thing which magnetized me to no end about DBP was its pure grit, baybee…that delicious tenaciousness, that relentless, edge-of-the-hardbacked-chair action, action, action which was non-stop.
You demonstrated, in heapful doses, that all-critical component of the tri-pronged matrix of Words, Thoughts, and Deeds. It’s them deeds which count, baybee — the deeds which made, make, and shall continue to make this happen.
::: what in g.od’s name am I trying to say?! :::
In any event, I’m sortve asphyxiating here in the Golden City (Prague) as I wait for the dozen-th episode. Jesse, I admit, Soul Brother, that you gave us Bohemians out here a major case of the “coitus interruptus” with the exqueeze-me hold ‘em play thar’ on the twelfth installment. What chutzpah! How could you?!
Riveted to this work, I am. Digging it like an undertaker.
Major props go out to m’main man Kfir Pravda (www.pravdam.com) for pointing me out to this gem of a find on His Royal Blip.tv-ness. A gift box is forthcoming.
Life is good. Beer is good. DrawnByPain allieviates pretty much any pain you might be feeling in life.
THE END.

Keeping it simple I love what everyone involved has done to make DBP the masterpiece it is! Great story, great visuals all around and just the total package. Kudos to your entire cast and crew! Can’t wait to get my hands on the Complete DVD so I can spread the word!
