If there is one thing I have always liked its when a hero character shows weakness, especially female heroes. Too often, female heroes are so over powerful that it gets tedious and all I hope for is that they get slapped down by someone who can prove to them that they aren’t all powerful beings. So the fact that Emily is showing signs of fear and being knocked down a bit, that just endeared her to me so much more than she already was. That is probably one thing I do love best about her character, she ISN’T completely powerful.
Morsus was interesting in this episode I think, since he went after her in the first part, yet later seemed to be protecting her in a weird sort of way; the same goes for the wolf. Again, at first it goes after her, but then turns around and goes after Morsus; but that might just be my take on the subject.
And of course how can I not mention the end with Emily and Douglass? That relationship is absolutely fantastic since Emily is trying so hard to remove herself from people because of her past and yet here is this guy who is just sort of being this constant anchor to her without her really knowing it, keeping her ‘here’ while she struggles so hard to break away. Its incredibly sweet how at the end she goes to him for comfort after what had happened in the lot. Its kinda of like she has realized that there is someone in the world who is actually being kind to her because that is just who he is. Its sweet and I love it.
The depth and emotion of Emily in this episode is just amazing. i dont think that anyone has ever gotten that before. this is truly the best episode yet.
Ok, so this episode has to at least be my second favorite….
I just love the fact that Emily is showing a weakness in her powers, she’s just not some super invincible character who never has problems. It just adds more life to her. Having her mind and mental poweress deteriorate and losing control of her animated beings just brings her down from her power pedastel, which better contects us to her on a human level. I’m just really looking forward to how the relationship between her and her creations play out. I mean, Morsus evidentally wants her dead, but the wolf one just baffles me. At first you think its there to protect her, when it went after those guys in episode 4, and then it turns on her and attacks. Then in this episode it chases after her, only to turn around and attack Morsus. I guess it just wants a piece of her itself. I was really excited to see another another animated female, and thought that the weapon was cool. I just wish a clearer view of the character design was shown, since if just flashed on and off to quickly to get a good look. I’m embarassed to say, but I’m a hopeless romantic and I am sad to say I squealed at the ending. The whole Emily/Douglas relationship is just so adorable. I mean, it seems so highly unlikely, but I just can’t help get so giddy and girly when I watch the affection between the two grow. Its just so damn cute >
Jesse. I know you know I think your series here is awesome. But I thought I would go into more details about the things I like about it.
The actress. Merissa. She has done an undoubtedly amazing job. Her skill and technique for getting this role perfect is perfect. She has captured what I imagine the character to be. And I am sure it is the same character as intended in the writing.
The writing. I think you have written something amazing here. The style, detail, and skill of the writing is awesome. I think the episodes have been written very well. You’re a spectacular writer.
Everything. lol Yes indeed I think everything about DBP is phenomenal. I am going to follow this series to the end and love it all the way.
Here’s hoping to see many many more movies from you Jes.
I think this has been my favorite episode thus far. Before she was just fighting random people and such but now it is like she is fighting something else and that something else might be herself. Of course Douglas is also amazing he is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. He is just that and I love at the end with the hug how he was even kind of like ummmm ok. It was great can not wait to see more.

A great episode in terms of character development, shows that even though Emily has immense power, she cant always control it.

Loved the dialogue with the guys. Cracked me up. Loved Mary’s scene too. She’s so adorable as a hooker.

Who is this guy, and why is he so focused on Emily? I do like the animation in this episode as well.
